About StrangerTest
The person who built a product is often the least capable of experiencing it for the first time.
The problem it started with
Every founder has watched a new user struggle with something that seemed obvious. It seemed obvious because the founder already knew where it was, what it was called and why it mattered. That knowledge cannot be switched off, and it quietly shapes every test a team runs on its own product.
StrangerTest exists to give a product the one thing its builders cannot: a visit from someone who knows nothing about how it is supposed to work.
What it is designed to do
Create independent users that can enter a product cold — with a reason for coming, and no map — and let them use it for real, in a browser.
Then hold their accounts to evidence. AI users make mistakes, and so does the automation that operates the browser for them. A tester that reports those mistakes as the customer’s UX problems is worse than no tester, so StrangerTest judges every visit separately from the user who made it, and does not let its own failures reach a report as findings.
“We would rather report no strong finding than manufacture one.”
That is the rule behind the rest: the evidence standard, the list of what each report did not count, the research we publish on our own system, and the absence of scores, grades and invented numbers anywhere on this site.
Who it is for
Founders and small product teams shipping web and SaaS products quickly — people who need to know whether a stranger will get it, and who do not yet have, or cannot wait for, a research panel.
StrangerTest is built and operated at strangertest.app. Questions about data, credentials and safety are answered in Data and safety.
What has changed, and whenWill a stranger actually get it?
Paste your product’s address. Three independent first-time users try it while you watch. Free, and no account.
